5 Questions

Just make sure that you consider the following things before deciding on your hosting contract - but don’t worry… once you’re set up, your hosting services will be up and running in no time.

1. What guarantees do you offer on you hosting packages?
Make sure that the company offers a good guarantee. This is essential because if you find out that you have made a bad deal you will want to get out of it as soon as possible. This is why it pays to sign up with a reputable hosting company of high acclaim even if it does cost you slight more per month.

2. Do your hosting packages have C-Panel?
After signing up you really want to make sure that your experience with your websites and hosting is as easy and stress free as is possible. This is why you want to make sure that the hosting company you sign up has C-Panel as it’s interface. This is the most user friendly interface around and will allow you to effortlessly get your website uploaded to the web and do a multitude of other things, such as starting a Wordpress Blog in the most pain free way possible.

3. What is your uptime percentage?
You must make sure that your hosting company has a very high percentage uptime. This means that their servers, which will host your websites, must have as little downtime as possible. There is absolutely no point in going to the trouble of putting up an excellent and highly informative website and then sending loads of traffic over to it if no one can actually access it. You want to sign up with a hosting company that has a reliable uptime of at least 99%.

4. How much web space and bandwidth do I get?
I think a better question we be “how much web space  and bandwidth do I need?”, but we don’t want to be sold to, do we? Don’t forget your email space is also included in this amount. I’d recommended 250mb per email (POP) account and 500 mb for your website or blog (that’s normal enough). These days you get plenty of web space with your package and it’s relatively inexpensive to have that little bit extra, should you need it.

You will also need an adequate amount of bandwidth for the traffic you plan on sending. By doing the prior research you will save yourself so many problems further down the line. I recommend starting with around 3gb per month per domain. That’s normally suffice for a small business site or blog.

5. What else do I get?
Everyone wants some bonuses. And why not? It can be great to get a free SSL certificate if you want a secure website for online trading. Also, some companies provide website builders and Blogs included in the package.
